The 2008 Farm Bill provided $20 million for pilot projects to provide incentives at the point of purchase to encourage participating Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) households to purchase fruits, vegetables, or other healthful foods and to conduct a rigorous evaluation that measures the impact of the pilot program on health and nutrition. This effort is referred to as the Healthy Incentives Pilot (HIP). See details, updates and timelines for the project.
