Instead of saying “cheese!” for our camera, students and staff participating in PBH’s “Eat Your Colors Every Day: Salad Bar and Salad Options Pilot Program” said “cherry tomatoes!” when they saw the fresh fruits and vegetables we brought to the lunchroom with salad bars and salad offerings.
The program brought teachers, foodservice staff and
students together in school-wide promotional and educational programs
to improve menu options and entice students to eat more fruits and vegetables.
The results? Consumption increased 9-31%! Now that’s
something to smile about.
